Furry Family Addition

Yup, Blue Sky and I are still here…and Blue has a new little sister. ( Not little for long!)

I would like to introduce Star Light!

A ‘baby picture’, about 9 weeks old.
Out for a walk in her stroller, with Blue. She won’t be fully immunized until she is about 18 weeks old, so she’s in a stroller for our walks for safe keeping.
Growing….!
With her big dog friends, whom we walk with. Behind her left to right are Sammy, Blue Sky, JoeE, Katie and Army. A couple of black lab friends, Jack and Riley were not walking that day.
Cuddled up and very relaxed with big brother.
Big Foot!

So there is Star Light! She is from a litter that had problems and she was the smallest to survive. I thought perhaps I was getting a small and delicate little Golden, but, ummm, instead it seems we have a strong and savvy survivor! Nearly 8 pounds when I brought her home a month ago at 8 weeks, and about 20 pounds now, happy, sassy, and fearless! Not to mention more cuteness than one can imagine.

Officially, she is Westwing’s My Lucky Star Light. She shows me a side of Blue that I wasn’t aware of. I often refer to him as ‘Saint Blue’ these days, when she is pulling his tail, biting his ears, and pulling his lips with those puppy teeth that feel like little needles. She also dives into his food and steals his toys, and he handles it all with such tolerance, peace, and calm. She couldn’t have asked for a better big brother.

Best Big brother Beautiful Blue!

I wasn’t going to do this again… no more dogs… especially no more puppies! I wasn’t going to… until I did. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Oh, Mickey, I was soooo happy to see this post! For some reason, I had been thinking about you – maybe it was because some friends got a new puppy that is a mix of Golden and Bernese Mountain dog. Or maybe the video I saw of the improvements at CLR. Anyway, you have another winner and back to your “Two-Pack”! ;-> She is so adorable and Blue? Well there just aren’t appropriate words for how wonderful he is!

    Virtual hugs,

    Judie

    • Hi Judilyn, yes this feels so ‘right’.
Thank you for thinking of me. I didn’t know if anyone would still see this. It’s been… I don’t even know how long since I blogged. I think I may start up again, maybe once a week, and see how that goes.
So good to hear from you!🌹

I would love to see a weekly update to your fantastic family! I always shared your posts with my husband, but sadly, the cancer (after 15 years!) finally got the better of him, and I lost him in August last year. We both loved dogs to the extreme, and yours were just so full of personality, that we totally doted on reading about them over the years.

  5. Hi Micky,
I lost track of you for a while. You look beautiful/happy/well ! And your fur babies are precious! Take care. Marlene (Tucci) Larder

    • Mar! I was thinking about you just recently, and Fraser and the ‘good ole days’. I didn’t blog in forever, and haven’t been on fb much. Think I’ll try coming back a bit.
      Hope all is well.

  7. Another beautiful companion! I can see she is growing big already! Love to hear how Blue gets along with (tolerates!) her. Enjoy!!! We were thinking about you recently; hoping all is well and trying to remember where you have settled. You look so happy in your picture – and we have the same hair color now! (Mine is platinum on the top!) Take care Micky! Marilyn & Dem

    • Hi Marilyn and Dem,
Nice to hear from you. Wish I could give you a hug.
I settled directly across the street from where I lived when you guys first came over ( the Paul tickets)… and we had the strongest margaritas ever!😂
So far, Blue tolerates Star well….most of the time. When he can’t take it he comes to me and says ‘mom, make her stop!’ But that’s rare. He has a little white shadow. She adores him.
It seems I’m always trying to match my dogs hair color. Remember it used to be pretty much the color of Joy and Shiloh. 😂😂

    Hi Micky

Love the addition to your family!! Very handsome! Good for you & Blue!

I have been on a real tough journey. Last July I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. I spent 2 months at UCSF getting my blood under control and gratefully qualifying for a Beat AML Trial. I am 71 & 10 years ago I would have been too old! The trial consisted of 2 pills & 1 iv and I did 2 rounds of this chemotherapy trial. After discharge I needed units of blood & platelets regularly as the search for a perfect hla & antibody match started. One was found and I was readmitted to UCSF February 7th. Another round of a senior dose of chemotherapy was given and I received the donated stem cells on Valentine’s Day! Then the hard part started. Who knew? There is a 100 day recovery period and I am close to day 50. I can sit up for 3-5 hours, walk maybe 2 blocks, have no appetite & have lost 27 pounds. This is a war and damn it, I am going to win. Getting nutrients in is hard and I do not turn down the smoothie’s that John makes me a couple times a day. We have to be in the city till day 100 or so to be close to the hospital. The plus right now is all my blood is donor blood. So amazing!!

I hope this is not too much. It is helpful for me to get it out and try and keep a perspective. I enjoy our word games even when I lose 😉

    Take care!

    Patty

Thanks for sharing all about the new family member. she’s darling! Blue is stunning so I’m sure she will be as well. Enjoy the puppy-ness! It won’t last too long!!!

Yeah, you weren’t gonna until you did! It was right when you were moved to, not a day before. So great to live in the moment. I’m so happy for you and your beautiful furry family. Blue’s peacefulness with the pup reminds me of Shiloh.

    • Blue is more Shiloh-like all the time… at least that’s what I see.
For once I didn’t think about all the reasons I ‘shouldn’t’ have another fur baby, and I just thought of the reasons I should. And here she is. 😊.

You are braver than me! I think you are a doggie whisperer. We adopted a 8wk Australian Shepard mix from SPCA. We love her and she is so smart. But we had 3 family members taking turns watching her ALL THE TIME! Was about to lose my mind. After a couple weeks though she is now our lap dog🤣who wasn’t supposed to be on the couch!

    • 😂😂💖. Oh I love it! And I’m so glad she is allowed on the couch now. 😁 what is your little girls name?
But yup, I know what you mean, the 24/7 single parent deal is hard for those first weeks. I was chronically tired, stumbling around, and babbling incoherently!🤪
But it’s already much better. ( Still babbling, but maybe slightly coherent now:-))) I was talking with a neighbor and I said ‘it’s like bringing home a new baby!’ She said, ‘I think it’s harder, but for a shorter time.’ I think she was right on.

      • Terese's avatar Terese says:

Her name is Ahsoka- after a Star Wars character. My son named her🤣 This am I had my old cat in my lap and Ahsoka playing next to me very curious about his tail. She is slowly getting the hint that he does not want to play with her HISS HISS! Can’t wait to take her to dog park but like you she still needs more shots.

        • Aww. Pretty name.
I get it about tails. Blue has this magnificent tail with some of the fur about 8 inches long. Star has learned that his tolerance for her biting and pulling his tail hair is sometimes very small. 😆
