The storm we will be dealing with concerns Shiloh, who will be going in for some tests tomorrow. I’m trying to hold it together, but I give myself about a ‘D’ for that right now. I’ll tell you more in the next post. For now I’ll show you some pictures covering the good parts of the last week or so.
In Pacific Grove, along the coast for a mile or two, there is a pink carpet of ice plants that bloom this time of year. Not to be missed if you ever visit the area in May.

There are paths between the flowers and the ocean, with benches so you can sit and admire the beauty.

It just goes on and on, starting just past Lovers Point, heading south.

Close up of these small flowers.

I was here with Mandy and Jason.

We also walked at Asilomar Beach, where they got married….3 years ago today actually.
Another day we went down the coast into the Big Sur area. We had a lovely lunch at Napenthe. This is the view from there.

One of my favorite spots in the world.

With two of my favorite people in the world.

The weather was perfect on this particular day, and as you see, Mandy got to sit in the sun and Jason and I got to sit in she shade, just as we all wished. We celebrated their anniversary, Jason’s birthday, and Mother’s Day.

The dramatic back drop here isn’t “just” the ocean, but it’s the mountains in combination with the ocean. I know this picture doesn’t even look real but it is.

We also went down by the Big Sur River to relax for a little while. There are chairs right in the river here, behind the River Inn.

Love birds surrounded by flowers. 💕
And then Joy, Shiloh and I keep going to their favorite beach.

We walk through the sand dunes to get there, and though that used to be just the first leg of this walk, now with Joys difficulty walking, it’s a major part, and we don’t go far on the beach. No matter…it’s still one of their favorite places to be.

Joy rolling in the original place she learned to love to roll. Sand and salt water and Golden retriever coat…a combo I learned to live with and love, a long time ago.

Looking out towards the Monterey Peninsula. The peninsula comes to a point just after the far right of the picture, with Lovers Point. The pink carpet pictures above were taken just beyond that.

Shiloh contemplates the Pacific Ocean.

Shilohs smile.
You are in a beautiful place, sharing it with dogs and people you love. I hope Shiloh’s tests are easy on him and find an answer that is not scary and is treatable. Hugs. I want to ask you for the recipe (again) of the began sloppy joes because I can’t find where I put it the last time you sent it to me…but I also hate to intrude on your special time there. I’d like to serve them at a lunch thing I have the middle of June, so if you find the time and the gumption, can you send it to me again?
Hi Dawn. Thank you for your good thoughts.
I’m trying to remember…did I send you some official recipe, or was it just my own concoction? Do you remember?
Hope things work out well. If you were spending the spring and summer wandering you would have more challenges getting Shiloh’s issues diagnosed and resolved so it’s good you’re “parked” for a while with access to a vet you trust and family and friends close by if you need a shoulder to cry on. Hang in there and thanks for the beautiful pictures.
Hi Reine. One of the big reasons I wanted to be here and stationary this summer was the dogs…but I was thinking more in terms of Joy.
Thanks for the encouraging words.
Breathtaking pictures – – what a glorious place to be. Jason & Mandy make me smile just looking at their happiness and love. Prayers for Shiloh. And kudos to Joy for doing something we all wish we could be so free to do!!!
Hi RR…yes rolling in the wet sand on the beach…it must really feel good.
Thank you for your good thoughts and prayers….we really appreciate each and every one.
Thanks for sharing!

You’re welcome!
Beautiful pictures. I will be saying a prayer for your beautiful 4 legged child that everything will be fine.
Thanks Pam. I know that you know the pain.
Gorgeous pictures of very special beings in very special places. I’m sending good thoughts for Shiloh’s tests tomorrow. Hope all goes well.
Thank you Marcia, we appreciate that.
I’m so sorry to hear about Shiloh’s problems. It’s a good thing that you have
a trusted vet nearby. They really enjoyed their walk and roll on their favorite beach. Guinness loves to roll too, but lucky for me prefers green grass. It’s one of his few pleasures now that his health has taken a turn for the worse. I’ll be praying for the three of you.
Hi Sharon, I don’t think I was aware that Guinness is having problems?
Or it could be that I’m not aware of much right now…
I’ll be praying for the 3 of you as well.
He’s been having breathing problems, most likely cancer according to the vet. He didn’t have much fun on our camp out last weekend. But he still loves his rolls and shorter walks. Thanks so much for your concern.
We are probably going through similar feelings right now Sharon.
Dear Mickey, Two of our daughters stayed overnight at Seascape Monday. Barb was visiting from Taos, NM and really misses the ocean, but loves where she lives near the mtns in northern NM. Prayers going in your direction for strength when you need it, and hopefully you won’t need it anytime soon! Enjoy! Marie

Yes,so special.
Paradise. I remember the wedding photos. Doesn’t seem possible that was 3 years ago.
Holding Shiloh in my heart. And all the rest of you as well.
Rick, you’re still with me. Good to know.
This is the day with Shiloh, and I really appreciate your thoughts.
Three years. It flew….
I read this the day you posted, and reading again now. Been thinking of Shiloh, and you, and Joy too. Heavy on my heart, and no matter what you’re dealing with, sending thoughts of comfort.
Thank you so much Cindy. I’m still waiting for more test results so I want to wait to write about this till I know a little bit more.
Praying for the best for Shiloh!❤️XO
Thank you Deb. 💕
Micky,
My heart goes out to you. I read the post “The Storm” but my computer isn’t letting me post a comment. My guess is that the WordPress server is overwhelmed with your friend wanting to post a word of comfort for you. I’m just glad you are close to friends and family at this difficult time. My prayer is that your good memories will overwhelm the sad ones.
Something seems to be wrong and The Storm isn’t accepting comments. I don’t know why..
Thank you for your kind words Reine. my mind is filled with memories right now but they tear at my heart. i miss my sweet boy.
Micky,I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you can just take good care of yourself and Joy as your hearts wait to heal.
Thank you Mary. I have no words right now. But thank you.
My heartfelt condolences to you and Joy on the loss of your sweet boy. Losing our furry friends is so hard. I wish you peace in knowing you gave Shiloh such a wonderful life. My heart goes out to you.
Thank you for your kind words Paula.
