You understand there are no words for this, and there is no picture ever taken or painted that can do it justice….though I’ve seen some beautiful ones.
That being said, I still try to express and photograph this….this….work of Godly art, The Grand Canyon!

This place over-rides your senses in every way: distance, color, time, place…become things I don’t comprehend. Depth perception loses all credibility. It’s like the earth looks normal, and then it falls off into this indescribable magnificence and grandure. A canyon of such magnitude that my mind loses it’s ability to grasp the reality and the proportion. Color….oh to be able to describe colors such as those!

When I get alone with the canyon (and yes, though 4 million people visit here in any given year, it is not hard to find your own private spot as you walk the rim trail) I allow the tears to fall. They come in handy at moments like this, when there is no way to express what you feel…the gratitude for this moment….the beauty of nature….life itself.

All I can really say is COME here and see for yourself. You may have to deal with traffic and people…how much and many depends on when you come….but it’s worth it. It’s SO worth it!

You’re right – there are no words! I’ve been there, and would love to return.
Hi Eileen, yes the canyon calls you back, doesn’t it?
We’ve been there and I totally agree. It’s definitely GRAND in every sense of the word. And it’s neat to watch the way the view changes during the day. There’s something awe inspiring about the whole place.
Yes Reine, so nice to be here for a few days for that reason. As I write this I’m at the Watchtower.
Micky it’s so interesting to hear some one describe the canyon – and it’s all that and more. You’re right – hard really to put into words- it’s more of an emotional reaction to it’s beauty.
Love the pictures of the pups too.
Sorry to take so long to reply Andrea, and welcome to the blog, if I haven’t already said that to you. Good to have you here.
Yes, first I say there are no words, then I go ahead and try to find some anyway. But on the other hand I can’t just say. ” I saw the Grand Canyon. Wow.” 😂😂. Guess it’s human nature to try to explain, but your right, it’s on an emotional level. I find I explain how it made me feel.
Mickey you are a true artist of words. I look at your pictures, read your words; you speak of tears shed (and I shed my own) and I reflect upon the power and glory, the beauty and love that is displayed for us in places such as this. And I am SO grateful for the wonders of nature that have been loaned to us to enjoy. How could anyone doubt the existence of a greater power? I expect to visit the Grand Canyon myself this year. Have been there before, but will never tire of it.
You are quite an artist of words yourself Pat!
This is actually the fifth time I’ve been here myself, but every time it gets better for some reason. I think I appreciate beauty more as I get older!
Amazing photos, thank you, the Grand Canyon never fails to amaze! Was thinking of you last week while flying from Little Rock to Las Vegas, one of my favorite flights since we travel just south of the Grand Canyon. I purposefully sit on the ‘right hand side’ of the plane so I can enjoy enjoy enjoy the view! Knew you were below, somewhere in Arizona…
Hi Laura, yes flying over the canyon is beautiful too, isn’t it? Just nothing about it that is less than magnificent.
You said it very well and captured some really great pictures!
Thank you Sharron. I’m thinking you are at BlueBonnet now?
Could not agree with you more. Beauty at its finest!
Yes Sandi. Gosh half the people here have come from somewhere else in the world to see this site….speaking all variety of languages. I’m sure they will feel their trip was worth it!
Hi Mickie,
I don’t know if you remember me, but we met not long ago while you were are the Meteor Crater RV Park. We had a nice chat at the dog park, where my Guinness got to meet Joy and Shiloh.
We finally made it off the road, and I was able to find (and follow!) your blog.
You have a way with words, and I love your photos of the canyon! We’ve been there a couple of times…once we rode the mules half way down to Plateau Point, where you can actually see the river, and more recently, hiked down to Phantom Ranch and spent a couple of nights in the hiker’s dorms….highly recommended!! After leaving Meteor Crater, we camped a couple of nights at Lee’s Ferry, AZ, where we got to watch the rafts launch into the river for their journey through the Canyon.
Can’t wait to see where you are headed next…
Hi cc and canine, yes I sure do remember you! So glad you are riding along with us now. Sorry it took so long to answer, getting my AT&T to work at the canyon was iffy.
Wow you hiked down to Phantom Ranch! I’m impressed! That must have been a great adventure! I saw a group of mule riders getting their orientation in their yellow ‘mule rider’ jackets. I just kept thinking how excited they must be to finally get to do this…I’m sure they must have reserved the day a year ago. Or more?
So glad you are enjoying the blog!
WOW Micky!! You described EXACTLY how I felt when I was there!!! When I got out of my RV at the first parking spot I took one look and burst into tears. It is nothing that you can really describe…a perfect miracle. GREAT pictures. Kids look great.,
Hi Krystina, yes, exactly! So thankful to be able to see this!
