Too Hot!

So we moved!

The weather was perfect for the rally, and 185 fiberglass RV’s were registered, which makes this the largest fiberglass rally anywhere, ever.  I met lots of nice people, and  made a few budding friendships.

Sunday it was over and folks started moving out…while the heat and the wind moved in.  I decided to go to Riveria RV Park in Blythe on the Colorado River.  They have a great dog ‘peninsula’ where the kids…I mean dogs…can run free and swim.  I thought after that I might head south to Caballo Loco Ranch where I spent some time last year and really enjoyed it.

Our last sunset in Quartzsite…for awhile at least.

But then I changed my mind!  Kerry and I walked the dogs and talked on Sunday afternoon and as a result of our conversation I decided to head for the hills.  Well the mountains actually, and in a northerly direction.  Normally this time of year it would be cold around Prescott, but as you may have noticed, the weather doesn’t behave normally these days.  For the next 10 days at least, Prescott will be sporting 60’s and 70’s during the day, and 30’s and 40’s at night while the Quartzsite/Blythe area is going into the high 80’s.  (I wish I could ship some of that desert heat back east) I’d like to avoid that kind of heat whenever possible, so here we are at an elevation of about 5000 feet.  There was snow alongside the road as we approached town.  I was thrilled to see it.

While here near Prescott for a yet unknown length of time, I plan to check out the National Forest campgrounds that are nearby…the ones that are open that is.  I also am looking forward to a haircut, and Oh My Gosh, there is a Whole Foods in town, not to mention Costco…

Meanwhile,  last Friday Joy had her third vet visit.  This time she needed a blood test to see if her thyroid level has been corrected by the medication she is on.  Yikes now it’s twice as high as it should be!  Her dose of med has been cut in half and her level will need to be checked again in 6-8 weeks, by some other vet in some other place…

Glad y’all got to a comfortable temperature. We’re headed out for a get together at Lake Belton south of Waco and the temps are forecast to be in the 70s. Really weird for February in north Texas. But my daughter reminded me that she came home from the hospital a day earlier than originally planned last year to avoid snow and ice on the roads and that was MARCH 4 so there’s no guarantee that it will stay warm forever.

Hopefully the latest change will get Joy’s thyroid stabilized. I know it’s worrying for you when your fur kids aren’t in the best of health.

Had a 95th birthday party for my mom and 95 folks showed up. It was fun to see old neighbors, folks I grew up with in church and relatives. I’m blessed that mom’s still here and healthy enough to live alone in the home she loves.

Have fun in Prescott and don’t break the budget at Whole Foods and Costco.

What lovely choices you have to make! I guess you won’t be voting for “She’s So Cold” in Uruguay, right?

We are awaiting lab results on our elderly cat, Marianne Faithful, who has lost two pounds from her top of 7lbs. We think she’s hyperthyroid, and hope we are not too late to make her a little more comfortable with the right meds. It would be nice to see her gain some weight. I hope Joy’s dosage is settled soon.

      Enjoy your new spot!

    • Hi Reine,
So good to hear from you. Congratulations to your mom! 95 and still on her own, wow!

I wish you could have seen all the little eggs at the rally…I know it would have tickled you. Quite a sight to behold, parked in a scattered fashion with groups here and loners there and then lines along ridges and washes. It’s sad when it ends though.

Yes WF and Costco can be dangerous on the $$$. Thank goodness I can’t “stock up” though! Limited space has its advantages!

every photo of the skies where you are at that moment is incredibly beautiful and exciting. and another exciting thing is a new vegan donut shop in Seattle to try!

  5. Hi Elinor,
The sky…it’s breathtaking! It can be blue, orange, purple, coral, pink, and some of all of the above…then there are the stars! What an amazing planet this is!

Yum…vegan donuts. I’ve only had them while at Farm Sanctuary…a rare treat!
