Tire Update, and such

We pack up, hook up, say good-bye to really nice neighbors on both sides, and roll on down the road to American Custom Tire And Wheel on Main Street.  They direct us into ‘Bay 4’ and in less than 5 minutes of our arrival the tire has been removed!  After it has been examined throughly, I get the news.  It’s not the tire, it’s in great shape.  It’s not the valve either, which I had some concerns about.  It’s a crack in the wheel itself!  They take me to the water tank and show me the location where the bubbles are rising.  Sure enough…

They have that wheel in stock, quote me the price for it, which is $55, plus balancing, new valve, labor and tax.  Less than an hour later I’m paying my bill, but they didn’t need to balance it after all, so for a grand total of $75 I have a shiny new wheel, AND peace of mind.

Here’s the wheel.  I don’t know how to take a picture of my peace of mind!

We head south on Hwy 95 out of Q, but not very far out at all.  When we come to La Posa West, where I mentioned I might stay, I realize that isn’t the place I was thinking of when I mentioned camping along the wash in my last blog.  We continue on a few more miles and arrive at Tyson Wash. Yes, this is the place.

These four LTVA’s each have their own little office building near the main road, to register and pay.  I hand over my $40 and they give me stickers that say I can stay until 12/8.  They add verbally, “give or take a few days.” They tell me there are dumps and water, trash containers and toilets, across the street in La Posa North.  I’ve heard that the north site is the busiest of all because of the proximity of those conveniences.

When I find my spot I remember to check the compass so we have our back to the afternoon sun and WS’s door to the sunrise.  It’s supposed to cool off in a few days, so I may want to change my position.  If I do, there is plenty of room here to maneuver, even for one of…a-hem…my skill level!

Our campsite at just about sunset.

I also remember to check my cell signal, and find it is good.  Yay, we are settled into our Thanksgiving campsite!

The moon is almost full, for the 16th time since I set my wandering spirit free.

Where ever you are, I wish you a wonderful time of giving thanks.

I’m glad your peace of mind was restored along with a new wheel. I understand that completely because I had to get a new battery yesterday. I noticed the sound was different recently when I started the car. I stopped by the auto shop last week and they said the battery was good but I had experienced battery issues before. So in the back of my mind, I was anxious every time I got into the car – afraid it wouldn’t start. Perhaps I jinxed myself because yesterday (the first cold morning), the car wouldn’t start at all. I had to have it jumped to get to the shop for a new battery. Now, like you, some peace of mind has been restored knowing that I won’t be stuck somewhere with a car that won’t start.

That looks like a great spot for giving thanks, with a wonderful full moon. For me, I’ll be heading east – driving til the map turns blue. Though it seems like you have a heart of gratitude that is expressed daily, I hope you enjoy the day of thanks in your beautiful location.

    • Hi Fnet4444, (Lucy?)
Yes you totally do know the feeling. I’m ALWAYS thinking about these things…tires…batteries…breaks, etc. I hadn’t actually been thinking of wheels at all though. 😏. I guess they kind of go with the tires anyway. It’s irritating that last week they said your battery was fine.

I do try to keep a thankful spirit, but like most of us I get winey, crabby, and unthankful at times. Attitude…so important, and something that can always be worked on!

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Sounds like you are set for awhile. Happy Thanksgiving Micky! It is always good to feel thankful and grateful. I tell people to please remember that, especially at this time of year!

    • Hi Patty, yes I’m feeling very comfy here. Safe and peaceful and cozy. I hope to do some cleaning and organizing since I hope to be here for awhile. Ha. What’s new? ☺️ Always needing to clean and organize….but so far, I like doing it.

Yes, an attitude of thanksgiving is always a good thing, each and every day of the year. Sometimes I find it easy. Sometimes, not so much. The thing is, there is always something to be thankful for, when I’m willing to see it. Usually many hundreds of things.

      Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Patty!

Hi Mickey,  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!  We’re in Truckee, Ca. in the midst of the same kind of blizzard that is reminiscent of what the Donner party faced.  3 of our 6 children and their families are here, but 2 more are planning to drive up here after work tonight so we have our cellphones hot with news of the highways. Our dogs are enjoying the snow.  Our son’s ridgeback, our anatolian shepherd, our daughter’s labradoodle!  You sound like you have an ideal location, and the peace of mind!  Always good!  Blessings from our house to yours.  Marie From: Wandering Spirit To: paularnoldac@yahoo.com Sent: Tuesday, November 24, 2015 6:05 AM Subject: [New post] Tire Update, and such #yiv9442604258 a:hover {color:red;}#yiv9442604258 a {text-decoration:none;color:#0088cc;}#yiv9442604258 a.yiv9442604258primaryactionlink:link, #yiv9442604258 a.yiv9442604258primaryactionlink:visited {background-color:#2585B2;color:#fff;}#yiv9442604258 a.yiv9442604258primaryactionlink:hover, #yiv9442604258 a.yiv9442604258primaryactionlink:active {background-color:#11729E;color:#fff;}#yiv9442604258 WordPress.com | onewanderingspirit posted: “We pack up, hook up, say good-bye to really nice neighbors on both sides, and roll on down the road to American Custom Tire And Wheel on Main Street.  They direct us into ‘Bay 4’ and in less than 5 minutes of our arrival the tire has been removed!  After ” | |

    • Oh Marie! It’s so good to hear from you! So good that most all of your family can be together for Thanksgiving, and I’m glad you are safely there with that blizzard and all. Will be sending prayers up for those that are yet to arrive. I know you will all stay tucked in there until the weather gets better. Gives me chills just thinking about the blizzard…and the Donner Party.
I know it must be so so beautiful though!
      Blessings to you and yours.
