Found complete peace Thursday night, just before midnight. I was with her, and because of Hospice care I was allowed to give her medication hourly to keep her comfortable.
Jason was there all day and Mandy nearly all day, but I sent them home to sleep. It was hard, knowing mom was leaving, but not knowing when….not knowing which breath would be her last…
one of the most poignant times I’ve experienced in my life…but I’m thankful I was there. I’m thankful it was a private, comfortable setting, with the only interventions chosen For maximum comfort.
It all happened so quickly, but really, what more can we ask for, but a peaceful and quick transition as we leave our bodies and become pure spirit.

Deepest sympathy from Doug and me. I am happy that you had your Mom for so long.
Thank you Maureen and Doug.
I am sorry, Micky. I am glad though, that you were with her til the end. I am sure it was comforting to you both xoxo

Hi Claire. So glad that you have those sweet memories of your mom.
Yes, I’ll be in touch…
So happy for you, Micky, that you had your mom’s last hours together with her! I am sorry for sure, she had cancer. That is an awful disease. Wish they could have done something for her. Then again, perhaps she would have had a lot of pain and none of wants that for our parent. We love you, Micky. You are a beautiful person and the best friend!
Hi Carmen,
Thank you fo much for your kind words.
Any treatment would have only prolonged suffering and been worse than the disease itself for my mom. We chose to give her maximum comfort with the assistance of Hospice. I think it’s one of the better decisions I’ve made in my life.
I am so sorry for your loss, Micky. It warms my heart to hear that you were able to be present and help guide your mother through her transition.
Hi Michael. Yes, I’m so thankful things worked out the way they did.
sorry for your loss. Lynda Jerome
Thank you Lynda.
Ahhh, Micky – I am so sad to hear of your mother’s passing. We live and go through so many milestones along the way, but losing a parent is surely one of the toughest! I hope you have lots of support there. I’m sure you do. It was so good that you were actually able to already be there and not be racing across the country from who knows where!
Be at peace my friend!!!
love you, Marsha
PS – I wish I had a tenth of the word skills you do. Your descriptions are so beautiful and peace-filled. Bless you!

Hi Marsha, thank you for your heartfelt words. Yes, I do have a world of support here and it has been wonderful to experience. My sons wife’s family have adopted me as well as him, and they have been as warm and loving as anyone could be. Friends here are offering support in many ways too. Being the recipient of so much kindness is touching me beyond words.
Oh Marlene. You hit the word right on the head. Cherish. And I know that… Word (song) goes way back. But cherish your mom.
Micky –
Sincere sympathy to you in the passing of your Mom. My Mom is 88 and doing amazing and I cherish every day that we have her. Peace my friend from sooooo long ago.
