Still In Q!

Good friends, near perfect weather, and you can’t beat the price…so we awe still here in Quartzsite.

We wander through the big tent (I don’t care much for that), and up and down rows and rows of vendors with new and used wares. I find a table I like with adjustable height, a bug guard for the water heater, and a few other little odds and ends. We go to the tiny grocery store in town, purchase gas for under $2 a gallon, water for 25 cents a gallon, and Shirlee and Doug get propane for $2.30 a gallon. They also go to Parker for supplies at Walmart. I haven’t gone. Yet.

We walk dogs, read, play games and watch movies. We are not in the market, but we go look at RV’s for the heck of it. A Class B wide body 2008 Pleasure Way catches my eye. About 20 feet total and no towing. The dogs would have more space while I’m driving. But…$69,000 with 13,000 miles on it, the fridge is small, there is little storage space, and I would have no separate vehicle to drive. Those would all be issues for me.

The pros and cons of the various types of RV’s can be endlessly debated, and in my mind at least, there is just no perfect one. I love my little WS, but after towing it for over 10,000 miles, I’m still a lousy backer-upper. So many people have tried to show me, and/or explain it but I am still a work in progress. So far though, it hasn’t hindered me too badly, and I get by!

Who cares how well you can back up? It’s not like you’re on a schedule. On our last trip Paul and I decided it would be nice to have more room…but PAID FOR and easy to tow trumps space. So we’ll enjoy the Casita.

And you do spend a lot of time outside! And there is a lot to be said for being cozy 😊

I think you’re doing great! Don’t beat yourself up. You’re still in training. Give it time. Have to say it’s my biggest worry too as I look to the future, but given all the choices, a travel trailer will be my choice. I figure I’ll get the hang of It eventually.

  4. Thanks for the encouraging words Caroline, and yes, eventually I do expect to get the hang of backing up! 🙂
Sorry to take so long to reply Patty and Caroline. Just to a place with free wifi now!
