Gifts And Gratitude

Yesterday I arrived back where I started from.  I was going to say ‘home’, but the thing is I don’t know where ‘home’ is, except where ever I park Wandering Spirit.

Born in Ohio, moved to Michigan, went on to California, changed gears and went to New Hampshire…oops, back to California, hmm back to Michigan, wait no, back to California!  That’s what I did for the first 65 years of my life and most of that moving was my Wandering Spirit searching for soil to sink some roots into.  I may finally be beginning to understand that wandering spirits don’t root well. I may finally be beginning to understand who I am.

One thing I know…I’m still ‘becoming’ who I am.  I’m still developing, learning, changing, and I hope that continues as long as this adventure called ‘life’ does!

John Lennon said “Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans”.  I want to try not to take life for granted.  I want to remember that every day….every hour…is a gift.

Every blazing sunset, every joyful sun rise,  towering tree, dancing leaf, colorful flower,  majestic mountain, shimmering snowflake, drop of rain, winding river, twinkling star, wave on the ocean, grain of sand, glimmer of moonlight, ray of sunlight, blue sky, fluffy cloud, soaring bird, flash of lightening….ALL of nature….is a gift given.  May this Wandering Spirit be filled with gratitude every day and every hour for these many wonderful gifts.

I’m regularly amazed at the wonderful world God has created. And I pray we don’t mess it up too much. So glad you are safely back at your “jumping off spot” for a bit. There’s a great feeling of accomplishment when you get errands run and can check stuff off your “to do” list. You’ll be wandering again before you know it.

    • This world IS amazingly wonderful Reine! I mean, I knew that already but just love when I am reminded if it by what lies before me everyday!
Speaking of accomplishing things, I’m here sipping coffee waiting for daylight so I can tackle the ‘remodel’ of the bed of the truck!

I like that line “I may finally be beginning to understand that wandering spirits don’t root well”. That describes my own self pretty well. Am enjoying your blog.

  3. I’m glad to hear that line describes you, too Linda. When I wrote it part of my brain was judging me and trying to tell me not to write it because I’m ‘supposed’ to have roots, right? But hey, this is about who I really am, not who I think I’m supposed to be, and I’m learning to be happy with that. Finally. :-). Glad I have a kindred spirit!

It is so inspiring to read about your ability to connect with your inner nature and remain true. I am heartened to note that this trait is ageless and hope that I never forget it myself.

Hi Micky, Your words and thoughts were so beautiful, it brought tears to MY eyes! I have always held similar feelings about the sacredness of nature, and who or what I am and what I am becoming, and how do I fit in, in the scheme of things. I just know that being out in nature is so cleansing and healing for me, I want to capture each moment and never let it go. Could never express things as beautifully as you have. I believe the key lies in gratitude.

    • Cleansing and healing… Yes, exactly! How I love this beautiful earth, and I know you feel the same!
When you think about the exquisite beauty of a tiny delicate flower, hidden away under some leaves, that no one may ever see, and mililtiply it times a hundred billion, still we don’t come close to the amazing beauty of our earth mother. I can’t even process that… I just know that we are so hugely blessed, we just have no idea…

Ah! !! – all is well – confidence growing – enjoying freedom & all new challenges – I also tune into zenonwheels – you both are becoming examples of “get real gather your inner strength & March on” remember when trying to backup – maybe not conquered perfect but did it – truly enjoying your updates – keep on keeping on

  9. Hi Leslie, good to hear from you! Yes it’s a learning process, this new lifestyle. Everyone will end up doing it just a little bit different than the other guy or gal I guess. That’s good, and actually helpful because everyone can learn new and different ideas from each other. Nice to have options and new ideas…helps one grow.

It is Krystina from Americas Mailbox campground and RV Sues blog. I have been receiving your blog and I am truly enjoying it. At the moment I am in Grants, NM and in a few days I will be traveling along I40 enjoying all the sites. My computer was down for about 5 days….UGH UGH! Now I am trying to figure out the new reloading of everything!!!!! I sure know what you mean about the “learning process”. I have been on the road and still know nothing 🙂 Stay safe!

    • Hi Krystina, no of fence to Americas Mailbox but I’m glad you finally got on the road again. I hope your solar is working like it should be by now.
I’m so glad you are enjoying the blog! I enjoy writing it and I love comments and conversing.
Oh that is the worst when the computer goes down! So glad all is well now, and you are getting things reloaded, though I know what a pain that is.
Take care and enjoy the sights. I hope we can meet up again along the way.

Glad you made it back to Monterey safe and sound….all in all you had a good first trip…and an adventuous one for sure…but then again…your very first trip leaving here in the wind and cold was full of adventure as well…we re impressed!!!!

Where are you parked in Monterey? I have such fond memories of the few years that Fletcher (my Grandson) was in college there and the time I was able to spend with him there 😊

I bet you are really looking forward to your trip to Texas…it will be so fun to meet all these “Casita People”!!!!

    Peggy

    • Hi Peggy! You were able to comment, yay! I’m right near where I used to live, just a few blocks away, next to a friends home. Yes the Monterey area is just beautiful, and usually has such a moderate climate…except the last few days it’s been about 95 degrees. I don’t think I’ve felt temps like this here the whole 17 years that I lived in the area. (I know 95 is no big deal to you and Doug though!)

I’m so glad you have good memories of being with your grandson here.

Yes, so looking forward to the Casita Rally!!

Simply beautiful. The line that jumped out at me was “…I’m still ‘becoming’ who I am”

I really need to embrace that, Not the expectations of others, not perfect, just evolving. Thank you.

    • Hi Rick. I feel like this: I’ll keep becoming who I am as long as I’m given. Every day that I’m here is another day to evolve…grow…open…get closer to whoever it is I was meant to be. It’s always a process. I’m not into perfection. Too many hang ups with that. I usually stumble along and find my way by accident, as you have probably noticed in this blog. I have a lot to learn. 🙂
