This Land Is Your Land….

This Land Is My Land!

My Wandering Spirit is feeling so content right now…
I’ve driven through the United States of America a number of times, and I’ve also flown over it, staring out the airplane window. I’ve always marveled a the vastness of it, how ever this time, wandering through this amazing land is touching me deeper than ever. Maybe it’s age. ๐Ÿ™‚
I’m loving being able to take my time and enjoy the unspeakable beauty…just soak it in. It’s not only my land, but it’s part of me and I am part of it. The term ‘Earth Mother’ is so appropriate.

I feel connected to the mountains and the meadows, the redwoods the rivers and the rocks, the seas of golden grasses waving in the wind…I literally gasp at the beauty that presents itself as I drive each curve in the road, bringing to view a scene of beauty I can hardly comprehend.

I drive to Buffalo, Wyoming to Dear Park Campground. I am directed to site number 22, and find in site 23, another Casita! So here we are parked side by side! I set up camp and my new neighbors Susan and Bill and I tour each others little homes and have lots to talk about. Later, a lady pulls in nearby with her Golden Retriever, pulling a teardrop trailer. After dinner we decide to take our dogs to a large grassy area to play together. After play time Diane shares wine with me and we have good conversation until we are too chilled to continue.

The temp reaches down to 41 degrees during the night, but I feel no need for the furnace sleeping with two toasty warm dogs. When I leave the warm cocoon to make coffee and let Joy and Shiloh out, I do turn on the furnace to take off the chill.
I love the simple pleasure of coffee more than ever….and now off to a new day, exploring the Buffalo area.

So excited for youโ€ฆand wowโ€ฆanother Casita right next door!!!! I bet youโ€™ll see lots more than you do in California!!! Keep having fun ๐Ÿ˜Š

    • Hi pmyv, glad you are along for the ride. ๐Ÿ™‚ You know it’s strange but I’ve seen 16 Casita’s since I started out on August 10 and most of them were along the coastal area, CA, OR and WA! Also through the Shasta-Trinity area in CA. I was so surprised! Parking along side one at the campsite was just funny. The folks were in the showers at the time and when they came back they thought they were seeing double. :-))

I’m really enjoying your updates. Your journey is touching your heart, and it is a beautiful thing.

Two nights ago I sure wish I’d had a dog or two…it was cold. I’m glad you have them along for both company and warmth.

    • I just hope I don’t get a ‘three dog night’ because I only have the two and really can’t handle another one! ๐Ÿ™‚
I am enjoying your updates as well! Especially fun now that you are on the road!

Savoring each moment … that’s the way to travel! So glad to hear that you’re enjoying your new lifestyle. No photos ? :>(

I didn’t see this in your ABOUT section … do you have solar panels? an antennae? How are you staying connected and maintaining this blog?

Look forward to hearing more about Wyoming. Enjoy! Thx , caroline

    • Hi Caroline,
I have a few pictures….not much of the scenery because when I look at them afterwords, it so doesn’t grasp what I’m talking about. But I’m having a bit of trouble getting the pictures into the blog, both because of my lack of skills and because of wifi (I’m trying to use the free rv park wifi, since my own data is almost gone). I will try to send pictures again in a little while, in a separate post.

I have a small solar panel on top of WS (Wandering Spirit). 40 watts I believe, but it’s enough to keep the battery charged, use the lights, the water pump, the furnace and whatnot. (furnace is propane but needs some electric to run, as I understand it). I also have a generator, Honda 2000, which came as part of the deal with the trailer.

Antenna. I do have a wifi antenna! A friend of mine, Joel, who is very smart like that, fashioned it for me. We call it the ‘Joel Pole’….his wife thought up that name I believe. ๐Ÿ™‚ Anyway, he researched it on line and looked at RVSue’s site, where Mick from Tenn explains in detail how he made the one for Sue. Mine is a bit different than that, but accomplishes the same end. It attaches to the back bumper and extends as far as 10 feet if I need it to.

Hi there, good friend! You write beautifully!! I feel as you do about our earth. When Gip and I spent six months in our RV, I felt the same as we drove to each new place. Spectacular and gorgeous — mind blowing and a feast for the eyes and soul!

    • Yes, Carmen, you describe it exactly. Living in an RV, especially a very small one, brings you close to nature. And having the dogs with me encourages me to take lots of walks and explore areas they like. I won’t be doing all the touristy things, unless dogs are welcome there, but that should save me some money and there is PLENTY to see elsewhere. Like EVERYWHERE! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi there, Earth Mother! I am truly enjoying reading about your adventures and admire your spirit. How wonderful for you to take in all the beauty around you and appreciate it so much. What an incredible journey!
By the way, did you know that the Norwegian word for midwife is jordmor, which means earth mother!
Hugs from one of your buddies from work- and yes, I miss you!

    • I think that is a very appropriate name for a midwife…better than ‘midwife’. ๐Ÿ™‚

Nature really gets to me, and I love that it gets to me and I want it to get to me even more! It opens my heart….makes me feel more alive….like when the babies perk up when we put O2 on them….air flows in…life flows in and they go from blue to pink….that’s how I feel. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hugs back to you girl. I miss you too!

Hi Micky! Sounds like your are really getting some good practice parking. I love that you have a Casita neighbor! It is so fun to see how other people’s rigs are and get some neat ideas. I had to laugh when I read about your 2 portable “Heaters!” Now THAT is the way to save on energy!

  7. Oh Mary, this is the funniest thing! My Casita neighbor left early this morning, and this evening I had to do a double take because….there was another Casita parked in the same spot! I thought….did they come back? But no, it was someone else! So once again I’m parked next to another Casita! ๐Ÿ™‚

And I was right in between my two heaters last night. Worked out nice!

Just a little clarification – you thought to name your antenna ‘the Joel Pole’ hahahaha! Wish I could take credit, it’s hilarious ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. I have no recollection of that. ๐Ÿ™‚ I thought it sounded so much bette…err…less fluzie-liker to say that “his wife thought of it.” :-))))
