Leaving Lynnwood

Feeling teary.  I so rarely see Brian and Sharon, and there are….health problems.  I won’t go into it, but if you pray, send prayers for healing for Brain please.  If you don’t pray, please send positive thoughts. (And ok, I’m also teary because RVSue’s little dog Spike passed away a few days ago.  Makes my heart hurt.)

We had good family time and I finally got to see “Lincoln”.  Really enjoyed that.

I’m tired.  I’m sitting inside WS in the air conditioning for now.  Later when it cools off I’ll sit outside.  Joy, Shiloh and I had our walk this morning, but not feeling like doing much of anything now.  When it’s cooler, we may walk again.

Sharon gave me a beautiful white, lacy knitted shawl and a beautiful crocheted blanket before I left.  Those warm cuddles will be so wonderful in days to come.  Thank you so much Sharon, if you are reading this.

One of the things we did….family night at the shooting range.  Over a year ago I bought a gun for the purpose of traveling safety…I know, I know…a vegan with a gun….but it makes sense to me!  I took a half day class last October in preparation, and I asked Brian and Sharon if they would teach me a bit more.  We all went to a local indoor shooting range and I got a little practice and instruction.  Ok, just say I hit the target every time at about 21 feet.  Yay!

Arrived here at the RV park and dumped my tanks.  Now I’m doing laundry and while it dries I’m having a glass of wine with ice in it and feeling pretty ok.

Tomorrow I’ll be traveling to visit a friend that  I worked with for years at CHOMP and it’s been at least 5 years since we’ve seen each other.  We’ll spend a couple of days together and then I’m off, through Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming, into South Dakota to become a resident of that full-time-RV-friendly-state.  Yay!

I’m with you on the sadness part. I think anyone who has followed Sue and Crew over the past three years has been dealt a blow with Spike’s passing…not to the extent Sue is feeling…but gut-wretching grief, nevertheless. My heart is heavy. I guess we all felt we knew them as we cyber-traveled along with them. Hearing from Sue will make me feel better. I’ve very concerned about them.

I’ll keep you, Brian and Sharon, Sue and Bridget in my thoughts and prayers. Take care of yourself, Micky, and give those pups a big ole hug and back scratch for me.

  2. Thank you for your wonderful, warm thoughts and prayers Cat Lady. i sure do hope our paths cross one of these days.
Yes, I’m concerned about Sue and Bridget too. I’ll be glad when she writes again. I hope that is soon.

She inserted a comment on the A Special Day blog. Scroll down the Comments to 8/28 at 11:36 a.m. Check it out. I’m relieved.

  3. I too with a heavy heart regarding the loss of Spike. Amazing how the bonds strengthen along this way. And as I say a prayer for Sue and Bridget, I say one for you…and for Brian.

It is so hard to lose a beloved part of your family. I will keep them in thought and prayer also. Wish we were closer to you. We still have to purchase a Motor Home (hopefully we will). We finally got the hot tub fixed. Remember it was about minus 50 below zero Fahrenheit when you went in it with us? There is no better time to be in a hot tub than when it is cold outside. Right now I enjoy it because my back and knee hurt and it sure helps. I’m sure if we could see you, all pain would be forgotten! Miss you so very much, Micky!

    • I have told that hot tub story soooo many times. I just told it yesterday in fact, to Sharon. (my daughter in law). She used to live in North Pole Alaska too, and her dad drove a truck helping to build the roads for the pipeline. I’m thinking that’s what Gip did too?
Glad you got that hot tub fixed….that is an absolute necessity for watching the northern lights!
Hope it works out that you can purchase another RV.
      I miss you too girl!!!

Hi Micky! So nice to hear about your visit and your plans. I really look forward to your posts. Yeah, I was reading RVSue’s “Special Day” post and I just did not see it coming. It was just a couple weeks ago that Spike was at the vet and getting treated with meds. Since my dog Pepper has similar problems and has been hanging in there for a while, I just thought Spike had much more time. I was overcome with waves of grief for Sue. (Still feel terrible about Robin Williams.). This “Circle of Life” thing really sucks! Miss you!

  7. I was concerned that Spike might be leaving us soon. Sue has been down, not posting much, and Spike has been sick. Little things she said before she stopped posting for awhile…more importantly things she didn’t say. Sometimes with Sue, I need to read between the lines, too.
What is amazing to me is the outpouring of love on her comments section! Isn’t it wonderful? Sue has touched so many people….not just touched them but become an important part of their lives. I’m glad she is getting all that support….it has to be softening the blow. I read her comment that Cat Lady mentioned above and that is reassuring.
Have you read “Zen on Wheels”? Michael is about to set off on a long journey….he comments here sometimes. His last post was about fear….when you wake up in the middle of the night and think of all the things that can go wrong….what to do about it. His thoughts are very…well…zen. 🙂 Helps with the fears, and helps with the thoughts of those we love, passing.
Hugs to you Mary. I miss you too!

    Have a WONDERFULL time!
Anytime you want to come back for a visit, long or short, please do.
    Luv ya much,
    Brian &Sharon

    HELLO AGAIN . . .

Micky, thought you and other followers of Sue’s would want to read her comment.

I’m sending positive thoughts to your friend Brian. I hope things get better for him and his family soon.

Spike’s passing, and Sue’s grieving, have impacted me as well. It is hard to follow along these honest and genuine everyday stories without becoming emotionally attached. It’s amazing and wonderful that one little dog has touched so many people. This gives me hope that the human spirit is capable of so much love.

I’m looking forward to reading about your travels eastward. Do you plan to make a stop at North Cascades National Park or Glacier National Park? It looks like they may be along your route.

  11. The huge support for Sue on her site is helping her I’m sure. Isn’t it wonderful? Yes, it does give hope for the human spirit.
Glacier is one of the places I’m LONGING to get back to. I was there about 20 years ago and have wanted to get back there ever since. But it won’t be this year. I’m so time constrained right now…which is not how I’d pictured this, but have to live with it for the time being. I do want to get to Glacier when I have time to just hang out there for a good while. Right now I need to get to SD to become a ‘resident’, and then back to CA for some important events in October. I want to allow myself plenty of time and not rush, so I’m not going to go to Glacier this time around.
Last time I was there was in the late spring and it was a really good time of year….except for the possibility of getting caught in snow. Up high there was still quite a bit of snow around, but not on the roads. The waterfalls were fantastic.
